Barcolana 2009

Exciting race for Scuderia50 sailing the Barcolana 2009: overall entries 1780 boats, Scuderia50 scored 13th overall and 4th in Class 0 right next behind 3 pure racers!  In the photo, the Scuderia 50 ITA 16300 overlapped with the winner Maxi Jena on the first mark. Alessio Marinelli called impeccably tactics, and, after having chosen to sail on Trieste side of the course, he was able to start having the boat clear from other boats and in a position where a light breeze was still blowing. Almost all the first leg was sailed staying in the front, up to the arrival of the first Maxiyacht, close to the mark. In the second short leg (Barcolana is a 4 legs course), Altair was fighting against much longer boats, reducing possible damages. Despite its shorter length, on the third leg ( 6 miles windward) the Scuderia50 exploited all its power without losing contact with the “new” front group. On the fourth, last leg, by sailing with the gennaker, the Scuderia50 was able to strengthen its advantage and achieve this excellent standing! Beside its own cruising features, the boat showed to be as good as any boat such as the more performing TP52.
